Barcelona Coach, Hansi Flick Opens Up On Future Plans


FC Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has addressed speculation surrounding his future at the club.

Flick recently suggested he is open to a longer stay, indicating his desire to remain in charge of the club until the Camp Nou renovation is completed.

This is an indication of his strong relationship with the club’s hierarchy despite the short-term nature of his current deal.

The 61-year-old manager finally addressed the ongoing speculation about his future ahead of Barcelona’s LaLiga clash with Celta Vigo on Wednesday, April 22, with his current contract set to run until June 2027.

Dismissing speculation, Flick said: “My renewal? Of course. That’s my plan. As you know, I’ve said it, and I say it with complete honesty, this is my last stop in my career. And for me, I feel very good right now.”

“That’s how it is. Yes, I want to renew my contract, but this isn’t the right time to talk about it because we have a big goal in the weeks ahead.

“My dream is to win the Champions League with Barça. I want to be the coach when the Spotify Camp Nou is completed.”

The gradual reopening of the Camp Nou currently allows around 62,000 spectators, with the club aiming to eventually reach its full capacity of 105,000.

Barcelona are also working on a contract extension, with Joan Laporta reportedly preparing to formalise a new deal that would keep Flick at the club beyond his current agreement.
