Nasarawa Speaker Disburses N60M To 1200 Students


Nasarawa State House of Assembly Speaker, Dr Danladi Jatau, has disbursed ₦60 million to 1200 students in Karu, Keffi, Kokona Federal constituency, who are studying in various tertiary institutions in the country.

The Speaker, who represents Kokona West Constituency, made the disbursement on Friday in Garaku, Kokona Local Government Area.

Speaking at the event titled: ‘Rt. Hon Dr Danladi Jatau Scholarship Students Fund 2026 Project, the speaker said that the scholarship was aimed at reducing the burden of school fees on their parents and guardians.

According to him, “I have earmarked N60 million to be disbursed to 1200 students of Karu/ Keffi/ Kokona Federal constituency studying in tertiary institutions in the country.

“Each student will be given N50,000, which is to reduce the burden of school fees on their parents and guardians.

“As education is Key to success, that is why I have decided to assist the students with a scholarship,” he said.

Urging the beneficiaries to use the money for the purpose for which it was meant, Jatau urged those who applied but did not scale through screening to be patient while assuring them of their turns in future.

He said that the scholarship was to complement the efforts of Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration in the promotion of education in the state.

The speaker lauded Governor Sule for the award of scholarship to indigent students and the provision of other interventions to the education sector in the state.

“This gesture is also to complement His Excellency, Gov. Abdullahi Sule’s efforts in the education Sector. As education is the responsibility of everybody,” he said.

The Speaker also called on the people of the state to be loyal and support Gov. Sule’s preferred APC Governorship aspirant, Sen. Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, to succeed in 2027.

“Let’s be loyal to the Governor of the State by obeying his directive on his preferred Governorship aspirant, Sen. Aliyu Ahmed Wadada, to succeed in 2027,” he said

The Speaker further distributed exercise books to primary schools across Karu/ Keffi/ Kokona Federal constituency.

On their parts, Hon Solomon Yakubu Akwashiki ( SDP- Lafia Central), Hon Agbawu Mek-Agbawu, the Executive Chairman Kokona LGA, Hon Abubakar Aliyu Madaki, Executive Chairman Karu LGA, Hon John Mamman, Commissioner for Education, represented by Mr Emmanuel Beshi Azaki, Director of Human Resources in the Ministry, Hon Terry Bado, APC Chairman, Kokona LGA, Amb. Danladi Caleb Ek’po, NASSA President, among others, commended the Speaker for providing scholarships to the students.

They said that the scholarship would go a long way in reducing the burden of school fees on their parents and guardians.

They urged the students to make judicious use of the scholarship for an improved standard of education.

They also called on the political class and other well-to-do citizens to emulate the Speaker’s gesture.

Earlier, Barrister Sunday Adeoshun, the Legal Director, Intellect Scholarship Foundation, in charge of screening and disbursement of the scholarship, appreciated the Speaker for putting a smile on the faces of the students via scholarship.

Adeoshun said that the scholarship would go a long way in improving the standard of education in the federal constituency.

He urged the students to take their studies seriously to excel in their academic pursuits.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Husseina Isah and Haruna Mohammed, appreciated the speaker for the gesture and prayed God to bless him abundantly.
