The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike yesterday labelled Atiku Abubakar a “se‑ rial failure”, who cannot win an election, no matter his popularity.
Speaking to reporters while inspecting projects in Kuje and other parts of the FCT, Wike dis‑ missed Atiku’s criticism of the Bola Tinubu government, chal‑ lenging him to compare the development in the federal capital to when he was Vice President.
The minister said: “Atiku is a serial failure, and that’s why we say that there is a certain age you will reach in life, you will be able to say, look, at my level, this government has done well in this area, this government has not done well in this area.
“But it will be very, very wrong, and Nigerians would be laughing at such a person mak‑ ing that kind of statement that nothing has been done. “I am sure he lives in the FCT very well. Let him compare FCT now and when he was the Vice President; let’s start from there.
“Let’s compare when he was Vice President for eight years and now, that we have been in govern‑ ment for almost three years. “Can he compare what FCT is today and what it was when he was Vice President? “I encourage him to run again because that is the only way he can survive, which is by running.
So, don’t take anything seriously about what the Vice President said.” The former Rivers State gov‑ ernor added: “You remember his boss, President Obasanjo, came out and said, Look, look, look, my Vice President is a complete failure. “He even went as far as say‑ ing, as far as conscience is con‑ cerned, that is his second name.
“So why would I reply? Why would somebody whose boss has attached corruption to him be the one to say that nothing is happen‑ ing in this government? “He won’t win.
There is no need to talk about whether he becomes President; he would not be President. “And remember, when he gets to 82 years, he will still run.
Even though he has said that this will be the last time. “One of the things I read, he said, look, he is more popular than Kwankwaso, he is more popular than El-Rufai, he is more popular than Tambuwal and you can imagine that.
