On Thursday, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) announced that the newly elected state executives and other party officers will not assume office until the expiration of the tenure of current officeholders and inauguration.
The coalition party, which made this clarification, said the swearing-in of the new executives is scheduled for May 12, 2026, or any later date that may be officially communicated.
The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Bolaji Abdullahi, made this disclosure in a statement issued on his official X handle.

The statement further emphasised that, “Until the transition process is completed, all existing executives remain the duly recognised officers of the party.”
The ADC urged newly elected officials, particularly at the state level, to refrain from taking actions or making representations that could contradict this directive or create confusion within the party structure.
Reaffirming its position, “the party said it remains committed to maintaining order, discipline, and full compliance with its constitution and democratic principles.”
