CIPM Lagos Branch Holds 23rd Annual HR Conference

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, Lagos State Branch, on Wednesday held its 23rd annual conference, themed ‘People, Performance, Profit: Redefining the Human Resource Equation.’

The conference, held at the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria in Badagry, drew a large number of human resource practitioners from across the state and beyond.

The CIPM, the apex regulatory body for human resource management in Nigeria, is mandated to set and uphold professional standards, ensuring practitioners meet required levels of competence and ethical practice through continuous learning and strategic initiatives.

The institute operates at the national, branch and chapter levels, with the Lagos State Branch comprising 12 chapters.

Speaking at the event, the President and Chairman of the Governing Council of the CIPM, Ahmed Gobir, welcomed participants and highlighted the institute’s role in redefining human resource practices across organisations.

He assured delegates that the conference would provide valuable insights and knowledge to enhance their professional growth.

“The conference is loaded with life-transforming ideas and knowledge which participants stand to gain,” he noted.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the CIPM Lagos State Branch, Adenike Adeyelu, described the turnout as unprecedented.

According to her, over 400 delegates attended the opening day despite initial arrangements for 300 participants.

She said: “The turnout of delegates in this year’s conference has been overwhelming. We made provision for about 300 delegates, and we had 400 delegates on the first day of the conference. This has never happened in the history of the CIPM Lagos State Branch. This is a mark of great success.

“When we informed members of the Lagos State Branch that the 23rd annual conference of the branch would be held in Badagry, members were elated, and this gingered them to come out in large numbers and make themselves available for the 23rd edition of the annual conference.”

Adeyelu noted that discussions at the conference underscored the importance of people as the most valuable asset in any organisation, stressing the need for continuous investment in human capital development.

Participants at the conference engaged in panel discussions and interactive sessions focused on improving organisational performance through effective human resource management.
