Hamburg winger Philip Otele has expressed his immense pride after achieving a lifelong ambition of representing the Nigeria national football team.
Otele described his debut as a “Dream come true,” highlighting the deep personal significance of finally wearing the national colours.
Currently on loan from FC Basel, the Hamburger SV winger was a surprise inclusion in Eric Chelle’s provisional squad for the 2025 AFCON, and he made his long-awaited first appearance on Tuesday night, a moment he says he will cherish forever.
Otele made his senior debut in the closing moments of Nigeria’s hard-fought 2-2 draw against Jordan’s national football team in Antalya, coming on as a late substitute for Frank Onyeka to earn his first international cap.
