The Senator representing the Delta North Senatorial District, Ned Nwoko, has dismissed reports suggesting that the outcome of the senatorial primary has been decided.
Insisting that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is yet to announce any official result, Senator Nwoko cautioned supporters and political groups already celebrating victory to exercise restraint, describing such actions as premature and misleading.
Speaking in a press Statement issued by the Media Director of the Anioma State creation campaign, Chief Tonnie Oganah, on Tuesday, the Senator maintained that only the national headquarters of the APC in Abuja has the authority to announce authentic results from the exercise conducted on Monday officially.
Oganah warned against the circulation of partial or unofficial results, saying such claims could mislead the public and create unnecessary tension.
“All the candidates have their strongholds and announcing partial results would amount to half-truth, which are embellished lies capable of misleading the public,” the statement said.

The statement further described Nwoko as a symbol of the Anioma people’s quest for political identity and economic advancement through the proposed creation of Anioma State.
“Ned Nwoko symbolises the Anioma dream of identity and economic liberation as he wants Anioma to have three senators and nine House of Representatives members as opposed to only one senator and three House of Representatives members that it currently has,” the statement added.
According to the camp, the proposed Anioma State would also create additional opportunities through more local government areas, councillorship positions and state assembly seats, while retaining Asaba as the capital.
The statement also urged Anioma people not to sacrifice their long-term political interests for what it described as temporary inducements from rival political actors.
“Anioma people are not stupid and short-sighted enough to abandon their bright future because of mere crumbs and inducements offered by other candidates,” Oganah stated.
The Nwoko camp further highlighted the senator’s early support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC, noting that he openly aligned with the ruling party before several other politicians defected.
“Ned Nwoko has been known to be the first top politician in Delta State to openly declare support for President Tinubu and APC long before others joined,” the statement said.
It also stressed that the APC, as a party, would consider several legal and political factors before officially naming its candidate, including issues relating to party membership and pending legal matters.
“Membership of two or more political parties is an offence, and no one is above the law,” the statement added.
