WAMCO appoints new BOT chairman


FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc has announced the appointment of Mr Yinka Sanni as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of the dairy company.

The appointment follows the retirement of Mr Moyo Ajekigbe OFR, who chaired the board from 2010 to 2025.

In a statement made available to PUNCH Online on Wednesday by its Executive Director, Corporate Affairs, Ore Famurewa, the company commended Ajekigbe for “his exemplary leadership and significant contributions” to its development.

Famurewa noted that Ajekigbe guided the company through various phases of growth and transformation, one of which was the commencement of dairy development.

Under Ajekigbe, the company implemented innovative strategies that enhanced its market position.

According to Famurewa, the incoming chairman, Sanni, comes with a wealth of experience spanning over 35 years in the financial services sector.

“The expertise Mr Sanni brings to the Board of Directors, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC, covers retail and wholesale banking, asset management and his invaluable strategic vision for the continued growth and innovation of the company,” said Famurewa.

He continued, “He has held various leadership roles, including his most recent position as Group Executive at Standard Bank Group.

“He was the Chief Executive Officer, Africa Region, of the Standard Bank Group and Stanbic IBTC Holdings PLC.”

Sanni holds a Bachelor of Agriculture degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a Master of Business Administration from Obafemi Awolowo University.

He has also attended advanced leadership programmes at Harvard Business School and The Wharton School.

Commenting on the administrative changes, the Managing Director, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC, Mr Roger Adou, stated, “Mr Moyo Ajekigbe’s journey has strengthened the company’s commitment to sustainability, innovation and community engagement, which have been pivotal in positioning our company as a leader in the dairy industry.
