LASG pledges to deliver 14,022 homes in 2026


The Lagos State Government has revealed that the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will deliver a total of 14,022 home units to Lagosians upon completion.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Housing, Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, disclosed this recently at the ministerial press briefing marking Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s second year in office.

“The administration in June 2024 delivered and commissioned the Egan-Igando Mixed Housing Estate (Cluster 1), comprising 270 units of two-bedroom apartments. This increased the number of housing estates so far delivered across the five administrative divisions of Lagos State by Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s administration to 21 since 2019. The effort of the Ministry in providing affordable homes through direct budgetary funding has yielded 3,994 units of one-, two- and three-bedroom homes, while public-private partnerships across the housing sector provided an additional 5,976 homes for allottees. Therefore, this administration has increased the state housing stock with a total of 9,970 home units in the last six years.

“Currently, the ministry has five ongoing housing schemes at various stages of completion: The Egan-Igando Mixed Housing Scheme (Cluster II and III), comprising a total of 576 units, is under construction in the Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area. It is projected to be completed in the first quarter of 2026. LagosHOMS Sangotedo Phase 2, located in Eti-Osa East LCDA, consists of 528 housing units and is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2025.

The Epe Housing Scheme, situated in Itamarun, Epe Local Government, is projected to deliver 112 housing units by the fourth quarter of 2025. LagosHOMS Ajara in Badagry Local Government comprises 420 housing units with a projected completion date in the second quarter of 2025. Lastly, LagosHOMS Ibeshe Phase 2, with 192 housing units in Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, is proposed to be completed by the third quarter of 2025.

“As of March 2025, the status of work on each project is as follows: Epe Housing Scheme, Itamarun: 112 home units, 82 per cent completed, located in Epe, LagosHOMS Sangotedo Phase II: 528 home units, 65 per cent completed, located in Eti-Osa East, LagosHOMS Ibeshe: 192 home units, 66.43 per cent completed, located in Igbogbo-Baiyeku, LagosHOMS Ajara: 420 home units, 86 per cent completed, located in Badagry, and the LagosHOMS Egan-Igando Clusters II & III: 576 home units, 50 per cent completed, located in Igando-Ikotun.

“Lagos State Government strives to complete all the above-mentioned projects before the first quarter of 2026. At completion, the administration of Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu would have delivered a total of 14,022 home units to Lagosians.”

Akinderu-Fatai noted that the Lagos State Government has delivered 9,970 home units, with 4,052 currently under construction and 2,224 proposed, while the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation has completed 710 units in the last six years and is developing 25 ongoing projects expected to produce 2,415 additional units.

“Number of home units delivered-9,970, number of home units under construction-4,052, number of proposed home units (preliminary state) – 2,224. In the last six years LSDPC completed 12 housing projects and delivered a total of 710 home units. Presently, the Corporation has 25 ongoing projects at various locations, and these projects are estimated to produce a total of 2,415 home units in addition to the housing stock in the state.”
