AirFlyBird reiterates commitment to safety standards

The management of Flygbird Aircraft Services, an air operator licensed by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, has reiterated its commitment to safety precautions after a mishap that led to its aircraft losing two engines.

It will be recalled that the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau on Sunday commenced an investigation into what it termed a serious incident involving a FlyBird HS 125 aircraft, with registration number 5NKAL.

The Director of Public Affairs and Family Assistance at the NSIB, Mrs. Bimbo Oladeji, confirmed the incident in a statement to journalists.

The PUNCH gathered that the aircraft, operating a flight from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, to Kotoka International Airport, Accra, Ghana, experienced technical difficulties during flight on December 6, 2024, resulting in the loss of two engines, forcing the pilots to return to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

Reacting to the development, the aircraft management allayed the fears of the public, asserting that its commitment to aviation safety and excellence is second to none.

The company expressed confidence in the ongoing investigation and remains dedicated to upholding the highest safety standards within the aviation industry.

In a statement by the company made available to The PUNCH on Monday, “The investigation is ongoing, and Flybird AMSL will continue to cooperate fully with all relevant authorities to determine the root cause of the incident.

“We are currently working in close collaboration with relevant aviation authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and ascertain the root cause of the incident.

“As a responsible and responsive organisation, the safety and well-being of our passengers and crew remain our top priority. As a Nigerian company operating globally, we are proud of the progress we have made. Our heartfelt appreciation goes to our professional and committed crew members, who successfully landed the aircraft safely despite the mishap.”
