Wizkid Becomes First African To Hit 11 Million Spotify Streams


Nigerian Afrobeats singer Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has set a new record as the first African musician to reach 11 billion Spotify plays across all of his credits

Chart Africa on X, a music data handle, revealed the milestone on Tuesday.

Wizkid is the first African musician to reach the 11 billion mark on the streaming service, according to the platform.

“Wizkid becomes the first African artist EVER to cross 11 billion Spotify streams across all credits,” the statement states.

The album was released a few days after his joint song “State of Mind” with DJ Tunez.

In its first full day of release on May 15, 2026, the song had over 685,000 streams worldwide on Spotify.
