Why I Have Issues With Wizkid- Carter Efe

Nigerian content creator and streamer Carter Efe has revealed why there is a strain in his relationship with Afrobeats superstar Ibrahim Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid.

Speaking during an interview with BBC Pidgin, Efe expressed deep admiration for Wizkid’s musical talent, creative style, and distinctive sound, saying he still respects Wizkid’s craft.

However, the streamer admitted to having issues with the way Wizkid has refused to reciprocate the love and support he has shown over the years.

He said: “My relationship with him? I love Wizkid. I won’t lie. I love Wizkid. I love his craft, man. But I have issues with his personality.

“I showed that guy love, he didn’t show me love. But I still love his music and style.”

Recall that Carter Efe and Berri-Tiga’s 2022 hit song “Machala” was created as a tribute to laud Wizkid’s creative genius.

The track gained widespread attention and helped Efe gain more visibility, but Wizkid never publicly acknowledged it or Efe in any official capacity.

Efe emphasised that his intention behind the song was never primarily about money or fame, but rather a heartfelt nod to an artist he truly rates.
