Vitel Wireless Partners Opay, Moniepoint To Expand Airtime, Data Access

Vitel Wireless has announced a strategic partnership with two of Nigeria’s leading fintech companies, Opay Limited and Moniepoint Limited, enabling millions of their customers to seamlessly purchase airtime and data for the Vitel Wireless network directly from their bank accounts. This collaboration, according to Vitel Wireless’ management, represents a significant step toward bridging the gap between financial services and telecommunications access in Nigeria.

According to its Chief Operating Officer, Mr Chudi Nwabueze, by leveraging the extensive customer bases and digital payment infrastructure of Opay and Moniepoint, Vitel Wireless aims to make mobile connectivity more accessible, especially in underserved and rural communities. “Vitel Wireless continues to showcase the close collaboration between financial services and telecom services, by extending their partnership model with traditional banks such as Fidelity Bank and Zenith Bank, to fintech giants such as Opay and Moniepoint,” Mr Nwabueze said.

He further noted that through this integration, customers can conveniently top up airtime and purchase data bundles using their existing fintech wallets or banking platforms, eliminating barriers to access and improving overall user experience. Speaking on the partnership, Vitel Wireless Product Marketing Manager, Ms Odera Ben-Chiobi, said:

“This collaboration aligns with our mission to democratize access to mobile connectivity across Nigeria. By partnering with leading fintech platforms like Opay and Moniepoint, we are bringing telecom services closer to millions of Nigerians, particularly in rural areas where access has traditionally been limited.”

The partnership, she said, also supports broader efforts to drive financial inclusion across Nigeria. By combining telecom services with digital financial platforms, Ben-Chiobi noted, Vitel Wireless and its partners are creating an ecosystem where users can access essential services more efficiently and affordably. Vitel Wireless has an extensive nationwide network coverage across all states on the strength of their partnership agreement with MTN, as their Host Mobile Network, to co-share MTN’s radio infrastructure across the entire Nigeria.
