Toni Kroos Reacts To Real Madrid’s Crisis After El Clásico Defeat

Toni Kroos has voiced strong criticism of Real Madrid following their latest defeat to Barcelona, which confirmed another trophyless season for the club.

The former midfielder admitted the situation at the Santiago Bernabéu is “Hard to swallow,” as Madrid continue to struggle in a disappointing campaign.

Barcelona’s 2-0 victory in El Clásico sealed the 2025/26 La Liga title with three matches still remaining, leaving Los Blancos without silverware for a second straight season.

The result underlines a difficult period for the Spanish giants, with inconsistent performances on the pitch mirrored by growing unrest off it, including reported tension within the dressing room and uncertainty over key personnel.

The former midfielder suggested that Madrid’s struggles cannot be blamed on individual players alone, pointing instead to deeper issues within the club.

According to Kroos, the situation reflects a broader negative environment surrounding the team, both internally and externally.

“This is the outcome of a long-standing negative atmosphere at every level of the club. Maybe the players are motivated, but motivation alone is not enough. There are problems everywhere,” he explained.

He also admitted that watching the team recently has been difficult.

“I’ve rarely taken so few notes during a match. I had very little hope watching them play. Honestly, I was relieved when it ended,” Kroos added.

Real Madrid’s turbulent season has also been marked by reports of unrest within the dressing room, including alleged tension between Aurélien Tchouaméni and Federico Valverde during training.

Meanwhile, speculation continues to grow over possible summer changes, with questions being raised about the future of Kylian Mbappé and other key figures at the club.
