The Chairman of the Seaport Terminal Operators of Nigeria and Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of ENL Consortium Limited, Olori Vicky Haastrup, has been named Vanguard Woman Entrepreneur of the Year.
According to a statement on Monday, the award was in recognition of her outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s maritime and business landscape.
The statement explained that the prestigious accolade was presented on Friday in Lagos during the 14th Vanguard Personality of the Year Awards, an event that celebrates individuals whose achievements continue to shape industries and inspire national progress.
The award was formally conferred on Olori Haastrup by the former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Segun Osoba, on behalf of the organisers, Vanguard Media Limited.
“A formidable force in the maritime sector, Olori Haastrup has built a reputation as one of Nigeria’s most influential business leaders. As Chief Executive of ENL Consortium, operators of Terminals C and D at the Lagos Port Complex, Apapa, she has overseen significant operational growth and efficiency improvements, contributing meaningfully to trade facilitation and port development in the country. Beyond her corporate accomplishments, Haastrup is widely respected for her advocacy for gender inclusion within a traditionally male-dominated industry, consistently championing opportunities for women and nurturing the next generation through mentorship and institutional support across several women-focused organisations,” the statement read in part.
Receiving the award alongside her husband, the Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup (Ajimoko III), the STOAN chairman expressed profound gratitude and reflected on the broader significance of the recognition.
“I am deeply honoured to receive the Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award. This recognition is both humbling and inspiring, and I give thanks to God for the journey thus far. It reinforces the importance of perseverance, vision, and integrity in all that we do. To women everywhere, I say believe in your abilities, remain steadfast in the pursuit of your aspirations, and never allow limitations, real or perceived, to define your path. Success is not determined by gender but by courage, resilience, and a commitment to excellence. With determination and focus, there are no boundaries to what can be achieved,” she said.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the Editor of Vanguard Newspaper, Eze Anaba, emphasised that the awards were designed to honour individuals whose vision, resilience, and hard work have not only built enduring enterprises but have also driven economic growth despite the challenges confronting the nation.
“These are men and women who embody the indomitable spirit of enterprise and have projected Nigeria positively, both at home and on the global stage. They have defied the odds, and their journeys serve as powerful reminders that greatness is attainable through dedication, discipline, and commitment to one’s craft,” he stated.
