Six Pan-Nigeria Coalitions across the six geopolitical zones in the area have insisted that Southern Nigeria must complete its turn to produce the president of Nigeria for two eight-year tenures.
This was in response to the emergence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 general elections.
The Coalition made up of the Igbodike Movement in collaboration with the Middle Belt Youths Association, Odua Youths League, Northern Youths Progressive Movement, Niger Delta Forum For Youths Empowerment and Igbo Youths Center for Equity held a National Leaders and Representatives meeting convened by the National Coordinator of Igbodike Movement, which discussed and deliberated on the 2027 Presidential Election and Unity of Nigeria.
Rising from the meeting, the six bodies contended that the candidacy of Atiku Abubakar goes against the zoning arrangements as enshrined in the country’s polity noting that it would not accept any attempt to scuttle the agreement.
In a resolution signed by the leadership of the six bodies, Dr Peter Nwankwo Igbodike Movement, Suleiman Adekunla National Coordinator , Comerade Cosmas Balah, Engr Mohammed Abdul, Simon Eyimofe and Mazi Okechi Ejimofor, it stated that;
“That we, the coalition of progressive pan-Nigeria, declared support for southern Nigeria to complete their eight-year term in the presidential office as agreed on the spirit of rotational presidency between Northern and southern regions.
“That the pan-Nigeria coalition declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’ to complete his second tenure for the remaining four-year term for the southern region.
“That the pan-Nigeria coalition movement will mobilise all Nigerian youths of the six geopolitical zones for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second term against every other opposition.”
The Coalition lauded the administration of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu over the National Youth Empowerment programs he had put in place to salvage the fate of the Nigerian people.
“That President Tinubu’s national youth empowerment through broader national programs, including the Presidential Loan and Grant Scheme for micro-enterprises and the students’ loan programme via NETFUND.
“That the pan-Nigeria coalition movement observed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu met a lot of rot in the security system which created mountainous challenges before his administration.
“His move to establish state policing independently supervised by state governments is a landmark achievement that Nigerians must acknowledge.”
It is noted that the localised approach to policing will lead to quick response and more effective crime prevention efforts.
It also stated that it would enhance community relationships within the communities they serve, as they will be more familiar with the local environment and culture.
“That we have believed in the agricultural and economic developmental policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with their positive significance will continue to better the lives and future wellbeing of Nigerians.
“That the pan-Nigeria coalition movement warned other opposition presidential candidates in the 2027 election to withdraw their ambitions now because President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’ will complete his second tenure for more Nigerian economic, agricultural and security developments in Nigeria,” it read.
