Sandy Onor Joins Presidential Race, Says Wike Not PDP

Senator Sandy Onor has obtained a nomination form to contest for the ticket of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 presidential election.

Onor, who hails from Rivers State, told journalists in Abuja on Saturday that he was under pressure to seek the party’s ticket.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, who is the national leader of the party, had said PDP would support President Bola Tinubu’s reelection in 2027.

But Onor stated that Wike is not PDP, arguing that the minister has the right to support a candidate of his choice but cannot decide for PDP the right it will follow.

“This party has chosen to have a presidential candidate who will fight for the election, as any other person would fight for it,” the aspirant said.

He boasted that he has the capacity to be Nigeria’s president, adding that Nigerians “are yearning for PDP-type governance. And that, by the grace of God, will come again.”
