Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Usman Bello Kumo, has withdrawn from the 2027 gubernatorial race in Gombe as he declared his support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus candidate affirming his belief in party supremacy.
Kumo, announced his decision in a statement on Wednesday titled “Gombe consensus option: My affirmation of party supremacy”.
He said: “Ahead of the 2027 General Elections, our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has since been making preparations aimed at a successful election and victory for the party in the forthcoming polls.
“As a leader and critical stakeholder in the party, l have taken part in the lawmaking processes that produced the Electoral Act 2025 (As Amended).”
