The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, Arusa 1, has stopped the planned demolition of about 200 houses at Isokan Estate Extension, Alao Akala, Elebu area in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
Oba Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State, gave this order on Tuesday following a series of meetings held with the affected individuals who sought his intervention.
The order was contained in a statement signed by his media aide, Adeola Oloko and made available to newsmen on Wednesday.
Olubadan said that a certain individual identified as Mogaji Olopade Taofeek Abiola, also known as Mogaji Oloyin, claimed he has a court judgment from an Ibadan High Court in his favour to reclaim the lands within the community.
“It was as a result of this court judgment that some landlords and landladies ran to the traditional ruler to save them.
“The traditional ruler, after a series of meetings with the affected individuals, then directed that no house should be demolished in the area. He then directed landlords whose house rooftops were removed to fix them. He also warned land grabbers to stay away from the area”.
The traditional ruler in the statement stressed that, “By so doing, we would be able to know who is trespassing on whose land, and what the next line of action to take.”
