The Executive Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) Saviour Enyiekere, has urged Nigerians to embrace sacrifice, tolerance and dedication to national development as Muslims celebrate 2026 Eid-el-Kabir.

In his Sallah message issued on Wednesday, Enyiekere extended his “warmest greetings and heartfelt congratulations” to Muslim faithful and all Nigerians marking the festival.

According to the statement signed by Emmanuel Anyigor, Director of Public Affairs, on behalf of the Executive Chairman, he described Eid-el-Kabir as a reminder of the virtues shown by Prophet Ibrahim.

“Eid-el-Kabir reminds humanity of unwavering faith, selflessness, obedience, and total submission to the will of God,” he said.

According to the chairman, those values remain vital today, saying: “These enduring values continue to offer guidance for building a stronger, more united, and peaceful society where everyone will flourish,” Enyiekere stated.

He appealed to citizens across religious, ethnic and political lines to uphold the spirit of the season.

“As we celebrate this important festival, I urge Nigerians, irrespective of affiliation, to embrace the spirit of sacrifice, love, and mutual understanding in our nation’s journey towards unity, peace and development,” he said.

Enyiekere also called on all Nigerians to contribute actively to the country’s growth.

“We must all strive to play our role towards the peace and development of the country,” he added.

Eid al-Kabir, also known as Eid al-Adha or the “Greater Eid,” is one of Islam’s major festivals.

It commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail in obedience to God. Islamic tradition holds that Allah provided a ram to be sacrificed instead.
