MTN Nigeria earns dual global IT certifications


MTN Nigeria, has been awarded two major international certifications, the ISO/IEC 20000 certification for IT Service Management Systems and the ISO/IEC 38500:2024 for IT Governance Management Systems.

A statement from the firm on Wednesday stated that these achievements underscore the company’s continued commitment to delivering world-class, reliable, governed, and continuously improving technology services to customers and stakeholders across Nigeria.

The ISO/IEC 20000 certification is the international benchmark for organisations that demonstrate excellence in the design, delivery, management, and enhancement of IT services. Attaining this certification reaffirms MTN Nigeria’s strong governance framework, disciplined operational processes, and unwavering focus on service quality. It validates the company’s ability to provide consistent, efficient, and customer-centric IT services that align with global best practices.

In addition, MTN Nigeria has successfully passed the ISO/IEC 38500:2024 IT Governance Management System audit. This governance certification makes MTN Nigeria the first telecommunications company in Nigeria and the first within the MTN Group to attain this standard.

The ISO/IEC 38500:2024 certification covers the governance of all IT-enabled services, systems, and data management activities that support MTN Nigeria’s business objectives. It ensures that the company’s use of technology is aligned with corporate strategy, promotes ethical and responsible decision-making, strengthens accountability, leadership effectiveness, performance monitoring, and stakeholder engagement in accordance with international IT governance principles.
