LP Ticket: Agada’s Disqualification Unconstitutional, Unacceptable

Presidential Campaign Council of the Labour Party (LP) presidential aspirant, Arc. Peter Agada, has described his disqualification as unconstitutional and unacceptable.

The campaign council, in a statement, jointly signed by Prince Temilade Craig and Dr Blessing Elaigwu, said the disqualification is an assault on the Labour Party’s ideology of equal opportunity, social justice and fair play.

They accused the Esther Nenadi Usman-led National Working Committee (NWC) of tyranny, and expressed “The hope that the party would retreat timely from its now clear self-destruct path.”

The campaign council wondered why Arc. Agada should be disqualified by the party after collecting exorbitant nomination fees from him.

It rejected the grounds for his disqualification, arguing that zoning is not in the Labour Party’s constitution.

“The unconstitutional decision to bar Arc. Peter Agada’s hours to the oncoming Labour Party presidential primary amount to injustice of naked apartheid against the aspirant,” the campaign council stated.

It pointed out that the zoning is not religiously implemented, disclosing that in Edo State, “a national officer is an Edo North senatorial aspirant, his wife is a House of Representatives aspirant, while his younger brother is an Edo State House of Assembly aspirant.

“If the above is true, why is zoning suddenly being invoked in the case of Arc. Peter Agada?” the campaign council asked.

The council threatened legal action if the disqualification is not reversed.
