Inuwa Seeks Stronger Economic Ties with UK Devt Partners


Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has assured international development partners of his administration’s readiness to deepen cooperation aimed at attracting investment and strengthening economic development in the State.

The governor gave the assurance while hosting a delegation from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and Propcom+ at the Government House, Gombe.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya said his administration would continue to implement policies that encourage innovation, promote economic inclusion and ensure sustainable development in the agricultural sector.

According to him, partnerships with reputable international organisations remain critical to improving livelihoods and expanding economic opportunities for citizens.

He praised the continued support of the FCDO and Propcom+ towards programmes designed to improve the welfare of farmers, women and vulnerable groups in the state.

The governor noted that the partnership had already yielded positive results, particularly in the formulation of the state’s Agro-Industrial Policy, awaiting official launch.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, MMrArchie Stay, said the team was in Gombe to assess progress made under the Propcom+ programme and consult stakeholders on future areas of collaboration.

He lauded the state government for demonstrating political will and leadership in implementing programmes that promote climate resilience, food security and inclusive economic growth.

The meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, Alhaji Jalo Ali, and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Ahmed Guli.
