Adamawa State governorship aspirant, Mustapha Salihu has assured that continuity in governance would help sustain projects and reforms already initiated across critical sectors.
Salihu who will be contesting on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election emphasized the critical sectors to include education, healthcare, road infrastructure and rural development.
He further pledged to build on the ongoing development efforts of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for what he described as unprecedented infrastructural and developmental achievements.
The governorship hopeful disclosed this during the commencement of his statewide consultation tour in Madagali Local Government Area, where he met with community leaders, party stakeholders, youth groups and traditional rulers as part of efforts to build political support ahead of the next election cycle.
On traditional rulers, he pledged to restore the relevance and prestige of traditional institutions across the state and assured of making the Royal fathers central stakeholders in governance if elected governor in 2027.
Speaking at the palace of Ptil Madagali, Salihu said the institution remains a vital pillar in maintaining peace, preserving culture and promoting grassroots development, stressing that governments can only succeed when traditional leaders are carried along in policy implementation and community engagement.
According to him, traditional institutions are not given the environment to operate optimally despite their strategic role in conflict resolution, security management and social mobilisation.
He assured that his administration would work closely with emirs, chiefs and district heads to strengthen local governance structures and improve community participation in decision-making processes.
Salihu also used the occasion to outline his broader vision for the state, promising policies aimed at deepening good governance, accelerating economic reforms and creating opportunities for citizens irrespective of political, ethnic or religious affiliations.
The governorship hopeful said Adamawa possesses enormous agricultural, mineral and human resources that can be harnessed to drive economic growth and reduce unemployment, particularly among youths.
He also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, for what he termed their contributions toward national stability, security reforms and economic recovery.
According to him, ongoing federal reforms, though challenging, are gradually laying the foundation for long-term growth and stability in the country.
Women and youth groups who turned out in large numbers during the tour expressed optimism over his aspiration, pledging their support and confidence in his leadership style.
