Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has praised the outcome Ibadan Summit.
In a statement by its publicity secretary, Dr. Christopher Odianarewo, the party said the declaration at the Summit reaffirmed Lagos PDP’s commitment to the broader national struggle for democratic restoration and good governance.
It said: “Deliberations were frank, extensive, and solution driven, reflecting a shared understanding that the survival of Nigeria’s democracy and the wellbeing of over 200 million citizens are at stake.
“At the end of the summit, participants issued what is now known as the Ibadan Declaration, a communiqué that encapsulates the collective position and strategic direction of opposition forces in Nigeria. “Central to the declaration is a firm rejection of any attempt to entrench a one party state.
“The opposition leaders resolved to defend Nigeria’s multi-party democracy and resist all forms of political domination that undermine pluralism and constitutional order.
“The summit further resolved that opposition parties will actively contest the 2027 general elections, rejecting any perceived attempt to impose a predetermined presidential outcome.
