“I Prefer That My Kids Join My Father’s Business To Doing Music

Nigerian Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as, Davido expressed that he prefers his children to pursue careers in his father’s business empire rather than enter the entertainment sector.

During an interview on The Breakfast Club, the singer expressed that he motivates his children to think about becoming part of the family business, pointing to the satisfaction his father gains from family life despite his riches.

Davido mentioned that his father values spending time with his grandchildren, frequently taking them on trips during the Christmas season and derives more joy from these experiences than from physical belongings.

He states that this viewpoint has influenced his personal perspective on life and achievement.

He recognised that his father was initially reluctant about his choice to pursue a music career, but eventually supported him in following his path after seeing his determination.

Davido stated he wouldn’t enforce rigid restrictions on his children, although he prefers to steer them towards more secure career options.

He mentioned that while one of his daughters is interested in singing and dancing, he still hopes his children will explore prospects within the family’s business connections

Davido said, “Omo, go and work with my dad. Every Christmas, my dad takes all the grandkids with him. And I could just see that, among all the things he has, including multiple private jets and all that, his happiness is seeing his grandchildren.

“And my father is single. So I just saw his happiness, and I’m like, meh, this is like what life is all about. As much as my dad didn’t really want me in the entertainment industry, he didn’t overkill my dream; he saw that this boy is really adamant about doing this. I wouldn’t want to do that to my kids as well. My daughter is already singing and dancing”.
