I Feel Like Shutting My Instagram Account

Nollywood actor, Kunle Remi, has said he’s considering shutting his official Instagram page, saying the process of getting into the app is draining because of the toxicity, hatred, disrespect, and devastating news.

According to the father of one, he can’t completely log out of the platform even though he feels the need to do so, because his role now goes beyond acting.

The actor claimed that, particularly in trying times, he frequently tells himself that he still has light to shine, stories to tell, laughter to offer, and love to give.

Speaking further, he said these days, it seems like one has to pray before accessing the app. Remi exhorted people to stay hopeful in the midst of chaos, to be gentle in difficult situations, and to be nice in virtual environments.

Speaking on the emotional toll of social media, Kunle Remi wrote: “Low key… I’ve felt like shutting out Instagram lately.

“It’s exhausting waking up and almost being afraid to log in… afraid of the heartbreaking news, the disrespect, the toxicity, the negativity. It can be draining. But the truth is… I can’t fully log out.

“Some people can step away from social media and disappear for a while. But for me, I evolved into more than just an actor. I became a brand, a storyteller, an influencer… a light-bearer in my own way.

“And every now and then, I remind myself that I still have humour to share, love to give, stories to tell, and light to shine, especially in dark times like these. Honestly, these days you almost have to pray before opening the app.

“So maybe this is just a gentle reminder: If all you can do today is shine light… please do. Be kind in this space. Be soft where the world is hard. Be hope where there is noise.
