Presidential aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, on Friday met with former President Goodluck Jonathan.

The meeting, which was held behind closed doors, was a continuation of the aspirant’s consultations with political leaders over his aspiration.

Hayatu-Deen has a long history of a relationship with Jonathan, beginning when he served on the Presidential Advisory Committee when he was acting President, and later, as a member of the National Council on Privatisation. He also chaired the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE).

The two men have held each other in the highest regard since those years of working together.

A statement from Hayatu-Deen’s media office said the presidential aspirant saluted President Jonathan’s statesman role across the African continent.

According to the statement, he praised the former president for deepening democracy and strengthening electoral integrity in Africa.

The statement added that the discussions centred on the state of the nation and deepening democracy in Nigeria.

Hayatu-Deen, a renowned economist and banker whose career spanned both the public and private sectors, has contributed to the creation of millions of jobs across the country.

He promised to bring a lifetime of public and private sector service and experience, if he becomes president, assuring to end insecurity, reduce the cost of living and create new employment opportunities.
