Member representing the Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency, Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, has commenced a thank-you tour across the three local government areas following his emergence as the l All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2027 National Assembly election.
The lawmaker, who secured the party’s ticket to seek a third term in the House of Representatives, visited Pankshin, Kanke, and Kanam Local Government Areas, where he expressed gratitude to APC officials, stakeholders, and party members for reposing confidence in him once again.
Addressing supporters during the tour, Gagdi said he was overwhelmed by the level of support and goodwill shown to him by the people of the constituency, insisting that appreciating the electorate after every election victory or defeat has remained part of his political culture.
According to him: “I lack words to appreciate my constituents for the sincere love they have shown me, especially APC members who elected me as the PKK candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.”
The APC leadership across the three councils pledged total support for the lawmaker ahead of the polls.
The APC Chairman in Pankshin, Hon. Yakubu Damulak, APC Secretary in Kanke, Hon. Emma Gompil, alongside party officials in Kanam and the APC candidate for Pankshin North State Constituency, Rotshak Gideon, assured Gagdi of victory in the forthcoming general election.
They also commended the federal lawmaker for returning to appreciate the people shortly after clinching the party’s ticket.
Speaking with journalists during the tour, the Chairman of the House Committee on Navy said politics for him is beyond winning elections, stressing that gratitude and connection with the grassroots remain central to his leadership style.
“I am a politician and this is my fourth time being elected into office. It has always been my character to appreciate people whenever I win or lose. If I fail to do that now, I will not be at peace with myself,” he stated.
Gagdi also dismissed speculations surrounding his popularity within the constituency, saying the massive crowds that welcomed him across the three local government areas were clear evidence of his grassroots acceptance.
“I have chosen to respond to propaganda not with propaganda but with actions. From what you have seen in Pankshin, Kanke, and Kanam, it shows the level of acceptability and relationship I have with the people,” he said.
The lawmaker called on his political opponents to embrace unity and work collectively for the development of the constituency, maintaining that leadership and political power ultimately come from God.
“I call on them to join the winning team. The constituency does not belong to me; I am only a symbol of representation. Democracy has spoken, and now it is time for all of us to work together for the good of our people,” he added.
On the chances of the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections, Gagdi expressed confidence that the ruling party was fully prepared to face opposition parties following the successful conclusion of its primaries nationwide.
He further stressed the need for reconciliation within the party, noting that politics should not be driven by bitterness or hatred.
“It is important to bring together both those who worked for me and those who worked against me. Politics is about recognition and inclusion. The competition is over, and now it is time to unite as one political family,” he said.
As part of the visit, Gagdi, accompanied by APC stakeholders, youths, women, and hundreds of supporters, paid homage to the Emir of Kanam, Muhammadu Muazu Muhammadu II, where he received royal blessings ahead of the 2027 general elections.
