Vice President Kashim Shettima yesterday assured the families of the soldiers and police officers killed in the Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State of the Federal Government’s support.
He gave the assurances when he paid Governor Nasir Idris a condolence visit over the killing of the security personnel, as well as the death of the House of Assembly Speaker Muhammad Usman Zuru. Zuru passed away in Cairo on April 7.
According to Shettima, the Federal Government would ensure that the sacrifices of security officers are not in vain. He said: “We are here at the instance of Mr. President to commiserate with you and the good people of Kebbi State over the tragic developments of the past few days.”
He added: “We are here to condole with you, the security establishment in Kebbi State and the government and people of Kebbi. Our hearts are with you.”
Shettima said President Bola Tinubu had instructed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide relief materials for the families of the fallen heroes and the displaced communities affected by the sad developments.
