Fame Doesn’t Always Translate To Wealth In Music- Akon

Senegalese-American singer, Aliaune Damala Bouga, widely known as Akon, has revealed that &&artists usually make less money than business leaders, and the opulent lifestyles that some musicians display on social media sometimes conceal financial hardship.

Despite being the most well-known people in the industry, Akon stated in an interview with Hip Hop Eye that artists are usually the last to be paid.

He claimed that many artists’ financial realities are not reflected in the extravagant looks and opulent lifestyles depicted in music videos and online posts.

Producers, composers, managers, agents, and lawyers are among the most profitable jobs in the music industry, according to Akon.

He suggested that instead of pursuing a career as a performing artist, persons looking for financial stability should work in those fields.

“In the music industry, the artist is the last to get paid. He is the broke one but he is the most famous. If you want to be broke and famous, be the artist.

“But if you want to make real money go to other sectors of music business, like the producer, songwriter, manager, agent and attorney. There are so many areas in the entertainment field that you can really maximise,” he said.
