Nigerian music executive and Mavin Records boss, Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has dismissed claims that the record label prioritises some artistes over others, saying there is no point ignoring some artistes when he has already invested heavily in them.
Don Jazzy made this clarification during an appearance on the Crea8torium podcast.
According to the music record boss, differences in music releases among Mavin artists resulted from individual decisions rather than label bias.
He noted that artists who released fewer songs in a year did so by choice, and the label would release material if provided.

“We do see lots of comments that we do not prioritise some artists. But that isn’t true. It’s like I would just carry my money and just throw it away, just lock it inside somewhere.
“We obviously invest in people to make us and ourselves money.”
The music executive attributed claims of favouritism to imposter syndrome and overthinking, arguing that all signed artists received equal attention and support.
“So, the idea that we would have artists and not want to prioritise them is not real. If you see an artist in Mavin and the artist only releases one or two songs in a year, just know that it is the artist’s decision.
If the artist has 1 million songs and they want to release them, we can release them. Most of them actually have imposter syndrome. It’s normal.
“We are all human beings, so sometimes we can panic and overthink things. But there is no such thing as prioritising one artist over another,” Jazzy said.
