CAP Plc Targets Mid-Tier Paint Market in Niger

Chemical and Allied Products Plc has unveiled Spruce, a mid-tier paint brand under the Dulux portfolio, as the company moves to deepen its presence in Nigeria’s growing affordable paints segment.

According to a statement, CAP Plc, during the product launch in Lagos attended by architects, interior designers, developers, trade partners, influencers and representatives of housing and building institutions, said the new product was designed to meet rising demand for affordable, durable and accessible paint solutions among value-conscious consumers.

Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of CAP Plc, Bolarin Okunowo, said the launch reflected changing consumer preferences and the need for quality products at accessible prices.

“Today’s consumers are more intentional about value, but they still desire quality, durability, and beautiful finishes that elevate their spaces.

Spruce was developed to meet that need by offering a solution that combines performance, affordability, and style while remaining backed by the trusted Dulux heritage,” Okunowo said.

She added, “For us at CAP PLC, this is about expanding access. We are ensuring that more Nigerians can enjoy reliable, high-quality paint solutions that help them transform their homes and spaces with confidence.”

According to the company, Spruce was developed for aspirational consumers, homeowners, contractors and developers seeking dependable paint solutions within a lower price range.

The firm noted that the product comes in four variants, including Acrylic Satin, Emulsion, Textured and Gloss, with a palette of 100 standard colours and 10 culturally inspired campaign colours.

CAP Plc said the culturally themed colours include Idan Black, Steeze White, Old Money Green, Odogwu Red, Ajebo Yellow, IJBG Orange, Sarki Brown, Soft Life Blue, Baddie Pink and Shakara Purple.

The company also unveiled a consumer campaign tagged ‘Show Your True Colours’, which it said was created to encourage individuality and self-expression among younger consumers.

The Head of Corporate Services at CAP Plc, Aramide Nwokediuko, said the introduction of Spruce would strengthen the company’s competitiveness in the evolving paints market.

“The launch of Spruce reflects CAP PLC’s continued commitment to innovation, accessibility, and consumer responsiveness. By expanding the Dulux portfolio into the mid-tier segment, we are creating stronger value for consumers while equipping our trade partners with a more competitive offering tailored to today’s market realities,” Nwokediuko said.

CAP Plc stated that the launch forms part of its broader strategy to expand the Dulux brand across premium, mid-tier and standard market segments.

The company added that Dulux has operated in Nigeria for more than six decades, while CAP Plc has maintained its presence in the paints and coatings industry for over 65 years through innovation and strategic partnerships.
