Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Jeffrey Kuraun, has unveiled an ambitious economic recovery and infrastructure development plan aimed at transforming Benue state through job creation, trade expansion and strategic investments.
At the unveiling occasion in Abuja on Thursday, Kuraun, in his manifesto titled “Vision Direction,” pledged to prioritise economic growth by strengthening local industries, encouraging investment and improving infrastructure across the state.
He said his administration would focus on creating employment opportunities for youths through enterprise development, skills acquisition and agricultural value chain investments.
According to him, “Our focus is to build a productive economy that creates opportunities for young people, supports businesses and improves the quality of life for citizens across Benue State.”
The aspirant stated that infrastructure development remained central to his vision, with plans to improve road networks, rural connectivity and public utilities to stimulate economic activities.
“We will invest heavily in infrastructure because no economy can grow without good roads, reliable public utilities and access to markets,” he said.
Kuraun also promised to promote free trade initiatives capable of opening up Benue to regional and international markets.
He noted that debt management and prudent financial administration would be adopted to ensure sustainable development without overburdening the state.
According to him, “We must manage resources responsibly, reduce unnecessary spending and ensure that every kobo borrowed is tied to measurable development outcomes.”
Kuraun further pledged to create policies that would support small and medium enterprises, describing local businesses as critical drivers of economic expansion.
He stressed that modern infrastructure and investment-friendly policies would attract investors, improve productivity and boost internally generated revenue for the state.
The governorship hopeful added that his administration would also pay attention to innovation, technology and entrepreneurship to position Benue as a competitive economic hub.
“Our vision is to create a prosperous Benue where innovation thrives, businesses grow and citizens have access to sustainable economic opportunities,” he said.
Kuraun maintained that the overall objective of the manifesto was to improve living standards, promote inclusive governance and drive long-term economic transformation across the state.
