Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has clinched 68,823 votes to emerge as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto State, securing the highest number of votes across the state’s 23 Local Government Areas.
Prof. Aminu Abubakar, the Chief Returning Officer for the ADC presidential primary election in Sokoto State, announced the result on Monday.
He disclosed that Rotimi Amaechi received 292 votes, while Alhaji Mohammed Hayatu-Deen received 319 votes.
Prof. Abubakar said: “I hereby declare Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate with the highest number of votes in Sokoto State, out of a total of 69,434 votes cast.”
The event was attended by ADC leader in the state and former governor, Sen. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, as well as the party’s governorship candidate, Alhaji Manir Dan-Iya.
Also present were the party’s senatorial candidates for Sokoto South and Sokoto North, Amb. Faruk Malami Yabo and Alhaji Mani Maishonko, respectively, along with the state chairman of the party, Alhaji Abdullahi Maigwandu, and other party chieftains.
