Troops of the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have disrupted supply routes and intercepting logistics couriers conveying ammunition in Kogi State.
The intelligence-driven operations, conducted over a three-month period, targeted the movement of arms and logistics supporting terrorist activities within the brigade’s area of responsibility.
In a major breakthrough on April 20, 2026, troops acting on credible intelligence mounted a snap checkpoint along the Obajana–Kabba road in Lokoja Local Government Area. During the operation, security forces intercepted a commercial Toyota bus transporting two suspected terrorist couriers.

The suspects, identified as Mallam Zubairu Abubakar and Adamu Abubakar Abdullahi, were arrested after a thorough search of the vehicle uncovered a sack containing 314 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition and three AK-47 rifle magazines concealed behind the driver’s seat.
According to military authorities, additional items recovered from the suspects included mobile phones, identification documents, and a driver’s licence.
Earlier, on March 29, 2026, troops operating along the Jamata–Owara road also intercepted another suspected courier using a motorcycle specially modified with a hidden compartment for transporting ammunition. Investigations linked the suspect to known terrorist elements, prompting follow-up operations.
In a related development, troops apprehended a high-profile ammunition courier, Mathew Elisha, also known as Nasara, who had been on security watchlists.
All arrested suspects and recovered items have been handed over to the 12 Military Intelligence Regiment for further investigation and necessary action.
The Military said the operations highlight ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist logistics networks and restrict the movement of arms within the region.
