APC Promises Greater Political Opportunities For Women

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has assured Nigerian women of increased inclusion in governance and political leadership, pledging greater representation for them in elective and appointive positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Yilwatda gave the assurance on Tuesday while receiving the APC National Women Leader, Dr Mary Alile Idele, alongside zonal and state women leaders at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, according to the statement from his Media Aide, Abimbola Tooki, issued in Abuja.

He described women as the backbone of the APC, commending their commitment to the party’s growth and electoral successes. According to him, the party is determined to create more opportunities for women to serve in State Houses of Assembly, the National Assembly and other leadership positions.

The APC chairman stressed that women possess the competence and capacity to excel in public office and vowed to champion their cause in future appointments and campaign structures.

He also advocated the inclusion of gender representation in the application of the federal character principle, noting that women deserve a stronger voice in governance.

Earlier, the APC National Women Leader, Dr Mary Alile Idele, commended Yilwatda’s leadership and appealed for greater inclusion of women at all levels of government and within party structures. She noted that women have remained at the forefront of grassroots mobilisation and electoral victories for the APC nationwide.

The meeting ended with a renewed commitment by party leaders and women stakeholders to deepen women’s participation in politics and strengthen the APC’s structures ahead of future elections.
