A member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, James Faleke, on Saturday secured the support of his constituents to contest for another term on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Openly declaring their support for the lawmaker, party members and supporters assembled early at various wards, chanting solidarity songs and displaying banners in support of the lawmaker, who is seeking another term in office.
Saturday Telegraph reports that the APC primary election was conducted peacefully in the constituency, with officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security personnel present to monitor the exercise.
Speaking during the exercise, Austin Omoruyi, Special Adviser to the Chairman of Ikeja Local Government on Special Duties, described the turnout as a reflection of the confidence party members have in Faleke’s leadership.
He said, “Today is a show of support for James Faleke because the people believe in his leadership and representation.

“He has continued to serve the people and deliver the dividends of democracy across the constituency.”
Omoruyi noted that Faleke was the only aspirant contesting for the APC ticket in the constituency, adding that the absence of challengers showed widespread acceptance among party members.
“There is no opposition against him because party members are satisfied with his performance.
“Our people came out massively because they appreciate what he has done over the years,” he added.
Another APC supporter, Odunlami Dauda, said the large turnout demonstrated the lawmaker’s popularity among residents and party loyalists.
“Nigerians support leaders who stay connected with the people, and that is what Faleke has done.
“That is why many party members are standing firmly behind him again,” he said.
Dauda added that Faleke’s unopposed status reflected unity within the APC in Ikeja.
“When a candidate is unopposed, it shows party members are united and satisfied with his leadership,” he stated.
A party member, Kemi Balogun, also said many women and youths in the constituency continued to identify with the lawmaker because of his empowerment initiatives and regular engagement with residents.
“Many women and young people identify with him because they have benefited from his programmes and support initiatives,” she said.
Faleke, while moving round polling centres to appreciate supporters, urged party members to maintain peace and order during the process.
“I am going round the wards in Ikeja to appreciate everyone for the love and support shown to me,” he said.
“I urge you all to remain law-abiding and ensure your votes count while conducting yourselves peacefully.”
The lawmaker also assured constituents that he would continue to deliver quality representation and more democratic dividends if returned to office.
Faleke was first elected into the House of Representatives in 2011 and subsequently re-elected in 2015, 2019 and 2023.
