APC Aspirant Rejects Result, Seeks Nullification Of Primary In Ondo

An aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Adetula Oludasa, has rejected the outcome of the primary election in Owo/Ose Federal constituency of Ondo State.

Oludasa said there was no primary election in any of the political wards in his constituency and expressed dismay that results were announced without votes.

The aspirant said he mobilised party members for the election, and they were ready to vote. However, he said, instead of allowing them to vote, the results were concocted and announced in public glare.

In a letter to the National Chairman, Oludasa said the action of the leadership of the party led by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa could undermine the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The letter read: ” I write to formally reject the outcome of the APC primary election for Owo/Ose Federal Constituency on the grounds of substantial irregularities and non-compliance with the APC Constitution, Electoral Guidelines, and the Electoral Act 2022.

“There are irregularities in the conduct of the primaries, as the voting materials were not seen in the constituency during the purported conduct of the primary election. I don’t know how the committee came to the result declared in my constituency.

“It is surprising that results were announced in political wards where elections were not conducted. This casts doubt in the minds of the people on the legitimacy of the results declared.

“The outcome of the primary election, if allowed to stand, will affect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection as party members are disenchanted with the conduct and the result of the primary election.

“These actions undermine internal democracy, violate the principles of fairness and transparency, and disenfranchise bona fide party members. Accepting such a result would damage the credibility of the party and weaken our chances in the general election.

“Consequently, I seek the nullification of the said primary election result for Owo/Ose Federal constituency. There should also be conduct of a fresh, free, fair, and transparent primary in line with the party’s guidelines and constitution.”

Oludasa said the leadership of the APC should not forget about what led to the downfall of the former ruling party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), which controlled 30 states and believed it could not be defeated.

He said the people may be forced to join the coalition against the APC if the leadership does not allow democracy to thrive in the country.
