Anatolia Energy Trains Nembe Okiori HCDT Leaders On Leadership Devt

Anatolia Energy and Services Limited, operator of PML 104/Okiori Oil Field, has commenced a three-day leadership development programme for members of the Nembe Okiori Host Community Development Trust (HCDT).

This is said to be part of efforts to strengthen the capacity of the Trust to drive sustainable development in its host communities.

The training programme, which was held in Yenagoa from 2nd to 4th of June, 2026, is in line with the provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021 and forms part of the company’s strategic plan to equip the Trust with the skills and knowledge required for effective management and community development.

The capacity-building programme covers critical areas of HCDT administration, including strategic leadership, management skills, teamwork, stakeholder engagement, communication, and the legal and regulatory framework guiding the operations of Host Community Development Trusts.

Speaking at the opening plenary, the Chief Operating Officer of Anatolia Energy and Services Limited, Dr Adeleke Adedipe, urged participants to take full advantage of the training opportunity.

He noted that the company, as the Settlor, had invested significant resources in organising the programme to enhance the capacity of the Trust’s leadership.

According to him, ” this initiative is designed to enable members of the Trust to effectively manage HCDT operations, promote sustainable development across the host communities, and create an enabling environment for the company’s production activities.”

Also speaking, the Commission Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), represented by the Bayelsa State Field Office Manager, Mr Sylvester Bighoro, commended Anatolia Energy for the initiative.

He encouraged members of the Nembe Okiori HCDT to take the training seriously and apply the knowledge acquired in the administration of the Trust.

Bighoro expressed the Commission’s satisfaction with the capacity-building programme, adding, “This is a positive step towards strengthening community governance and ensuring the effective implementation of the objectives of the Petroleum Industry Act.”

The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Mineral Resources, represented by the Director of Petroleum, Engr. Kuroakighe Simon Mathias also lauded Anatolia Energy for organising the programme.

He said the training would significantly improve the performance of the Trust and enhance its ability to deliver on its mandate.

Mathias further assured participants of the Bayelsa State Government’s continued support for oil and gas operators in the state to ensure a peaceful and conducive environment for operations.

Dr Emmanuel David Dorgbaa, the resource person in his presentation, took the participants through tools to become good leaders.

The training had about thirty-five participants.

The Nembe Okiori Host Community Development Trust was inaugurated on June 10, 2025, to facilitate sustainable development in the host communities.

Stakeholders believe the leadership development programme will further position the Trust to effectively discharge its responsibilities and foster long-term development through collaboration with the Settlor.

Anatolia Energy and Services Limited is the operator of the PML 104/Okiori Oil Field located in the Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
