Former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has endorsed the curent Lagos State deputy governor, Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming 2027 elections.
In a press statement issued on Thursday, April 30, 2026, Ambode congratulated Hamzat on his emergence as the party’s Candidate.
He described his victory as a reflection of his loyalty, dedication, and longstanding commitment to the party.

“Your adoption as our Party’s consensus candidate is a reflection of your loyalty, hard work and dedication to the party for over two decades,” Ambode said.
He expressed confidence in Hamzat’s leadership capacity, noting that Lagos State stands to benefit from his wealth of experience and governance expertise.
Ambode also reaffirmed his support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, emphasizing that the nation’s continued progress is closely tied to the President’s leadership.
“I strongly believe that the greater prosperity of Lagos and indeed Nigeria is firmly tied to the continued governance of Mr. President,” he said.
The former governor called on party members across Lagos and the Southwest to mobilize support for the APC, setting a target of at least three million votes for President Tinubu in the next election cycle.
He further stressed the importance of unity within the party, urging stakeholders to work together to secure victories at both state and federal levels, including returning APC lawmakers to the National Assembly.
“By the grace of Almighty God, the best days of Lagos and Nigeria are still ahead of us,” he added.
