Aliyu Charges New District Heads To Lead Security Restoration

Sokoto State Governor, Dr Ahmed Aliyu, has urged the newly turbaned district heads to always consult widely before making any decisions affecting their various domains.

The Governor also called on them to prioritise community development and the restoration of sustainable peace, unity and security across the state and Nigeria in general.

Aliyu spoke on Sunday in Wamakko, headquarters of Wamakko Local Government Area, during the Traditional Turbaning and Royal Shaving Ceremony held in honour of the newly installed Baraden Wamakko and District Head of Wamakko, Alhaji Ahmad Barade.

The Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Muhammad Bello Sifawa, however, promised the new district heads the state government’s sustained support to succeed.

“We will accord all the district heads the utmost support they require to succeed in running their domains.

“They should, however, ensure that more fervent prayers are offered for the restoration of security in the state and Nigeria in general,” he said.

The Governor admonished the new District Head, the Baraden Wamakko, to stay true to the course of their forefathers to sustain the integrity of the highly revered Baraden Wamakko family.

Aliyu also urged the new Baraden Wamakko to use his wealth of experience to take the district to greater heights.

“Leadership needs more compassion and passion, while his subjects should give him the necessary cooperation to succeed,” he added.

Also speaking, the Sultan of Sokoto, DDrSa’ad Abubakar, represented by the Wazirin Sokoto, Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu, pledged support to all the new district heads to succeed.

He also called on them to provide credible leadership and carry everybody along in the discharge of their arduous responsibilities.

In a goodwill message, the Minister of State for Works, Barrister Muhammad Bello Goronyo, described Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko as a very humble, pious and committed leader.

He also said that the new Baraden Wamakko is worthy of praise and always assists his subjects.

Also speaking, Amb. Abubakar Shehu Wurno and the Jarman Sokoto, Alhaji Umarun-Kwabo A. A., extolled the virtues of the new District Head of Wamakko, describing him as a very pious, dexterous and patient personality.

In a welcome address, the Chairman of Wamakko Local Government Area, Alhaji Umar Ahmad Dundaye, described the event as historic, saying, “We will accord him the needed support to succeed.”

Responding, the new Baraden Wamakko, who described the day as epochal, expressed delight at his ascension to the throne of his forebears.

He commended Gov. Ahmed Aliyu, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko and the Sultan of Sokoto for reposing tremendous confidence in him.

The Baraden Wamakko also promised to be fair and just to all residents of his domain, irrespective of any ethnic or religious differences.

The highlight of the event was the turbaning of six new traditional title holders by the new Baraden Wamakko.

They were: Alhaji Anwar Sadat Muhammad as Shattiman Wamakko; Alhaji Mika’ilu Bello as Dan Iyan Wamakko; and Alhaji Mahdi Aliyu Wamakko as Yariman Wamakko.

The rest were: Alhaji Mukhtar Jibrin Wamakko as Mainan Wamakko; Alhaji Muhammad Sani Audu Wamakko as Tafidan Wamakko; and Alhaji Habibu Dan Galadima as Dan Majen Wamakko.
