Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has emerged the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries conducted across the 23 Local Government Areas and 276 council wards of the state.
Governor Alia contested alongside two other aspirants including, Hon. Terwase Orbunde and Dr Jeffrey Kuraun.
The results as announced on Thursday by the Chairman of the Benue State Governorship/State Assembly Primary Election Committee, Prof. Muhammad Kabir Isah revealed that Governor Alia polled 367,786 votes to beat Hon. Terwase Orbunde, who scored 3,247 votes while Dr Kuraun Jeffrey got 2,923 votes.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Alia, appreciated the members of the party for the overwhelming support and for also embracing direct primaries where the people’s will prevailed in all the primary elections conducted.
He pledged to sustain his infrastructural development drive to ensure Benue became the envy of other states.
The declaration of results sparked wild jubilation across the state as supporters of the governor described his emergence as a reflection of the confidence reposed in his administration and leadership style.
