Worried by the upsurge of negative spotlights and insinuations on the social media targeted at Afikpo community in Ebonyi State, the traditional ruling council of the clan has banned its citizens from using the new media to make derogatory comments on any matter that concerns the community.
This decisions were taken at the weekend during an expanded meeting involving all the age grades in the community held at Ogo Okpoota, a sacred ground where important and serious issues are decided.
The Council warned such defaulters to stay away from further comments on Afikpo, adding that it was only the traditional ruling council that has the authority to speak on behalf of the people.
Speaking on behalf of the Esaa Council, Chief Moses Erusi, explained that any offender that drags the image of the community to the mud on either Facebook or any social media platforms will pay a fine of N100,000.
He said unity was fundamental in the development of any community and urged the people to unite instead of castigating their sons and daughters in positions of authority.
