The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared Dr Mohammed Kpautagi as its Governorship candidate in Niger State after garnering 67,924 votes.

The State Returning Officer and Secretary ADC Primary Election Committee, Ibrahim Mohammed made the announcement during the official declaration of primary election results for the candidates for the Governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly at the IBB Guest House in Minna.

According to him, “Dr Kpautagi scored a total of 67,924 while his counterpart Alhaji Idris Usman had 27,769 across the 25 Local Government Areas of the state.”

He announced the three senatorial seats of the ADC primary elections to include: the Niger North Alhaji Shehu Mohammed, Niger East Muktar Ahmed unopposed while the Niger South Baba Shehu Agaie former deputy leader of the House of representative were declared the winner.

Meanwhile, the ADC Governorship candidate, Kpautagi told Journalists that he is keen on taking over from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) so as to fix the state in two years.

Accordingly, he said: “ADC is a new party and you can see the level of acceptance in zones A, B and C. With my emergence, I am very sure the APC will go home.

“It is important for me to run for the governorship because everyone knows what is happening in the state, especially in Minna the Capital. For example, look at infrastructure, there are no roads from every entry and exit of the state. Minna is a case study, everywhere is blocked and there are no roads.”

He added that “as a retired Director from the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, by the time I spend just two years, people will call me and congratulate me for the transformation they will see.”
