Osun Community Partners Ajayi Crowder Varsity To Host  Campus 


A community in Boluwaduro Local Government Area of Osun State, Otan-Ayegbaju, has partnered with Ajayi Crowder University, Oyo State to host a faculty/campus of the university.

Receiving the university team led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ebunoluwa Oduwole, in Otan-Ayegbaju yesterday, the President of Otan-Ayegbaju Progressive Union (OAPU), Adetunji Mosebolatan, assured that plans have been perfected to ensure the smooth running of academic programmes in the proposed campus.

He appreciated the Diocesan Bishop of Osun Northeast, Rt. Rev. Dr Samuel Adekunle Osungbeju, who facilitated the meeting.

A position paper presented by Prof. Felix Olatunji, said the town is prepared to have a centre of the university, assuring that there would be full support by sons and daughters of the town.

He said the centre, if established, would increase the economic value and development of the town and the teeming population growth with the addition of students will increase significantly.

Prof. Olatunji assured that the town has furnished buildings owned by sons and daughters of Otan-Ayegbaju that could house staff and students of the institution.

“In the area of social capital, there would be a clear-cut intercourse of diverse ideas, which will engender social re-engineering of Otan and its adjoining environs.

“In the area of cross-cultural influences, the influx of students and members of staff will be an added advantage to the town.

The Vice-chancellor of ACU, Prof. Ebunoluwa Oduwole, who led the team, expressed satisfaction with the serene environment, promising to present her visit to the senate of the university.

She explained that she decided to lead the team so as to know how best to present his report, promising that the university will get back to the town.

The Owa of Otan-Ayegbaju, Oba Lukaku Ojo-Fadipe, who was represented by Chief Adewale Fatona, commended the university for agreeing to partner with the town.

He described the meeting as “historic,” saying that the town would provide necessary support to ensure the success of the centre.
