The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has said it will convene a meeting of its National Executive Council (NEC) before announcing the results of its nationwide primaries conducted on May 28 and 29, 2026.
The party also urged members of the public to disregard various results currently circulating on social media, insisting that no official outcome of the primaries has been released.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Osa Director Esq., said the results of the exercise are in the custody of the NEC, which remains the only organ authorised to announce them.
“The general public is hereby urged to disregard the various results circulating on social media as the outcome of the nationwide primaries conducted by the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) on the 28th and 29th of May, 2026,” the statement said.
According to him, any result being circulated at the moment did not emanate from the party and should not be regarded as authentic.
“The results of the primaries are with the National Executive Council (NEC) of our great party. They are solely responsible for announcements of results,” he added.
The NDC further disclosed that, on the directive of its National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, a NEC meeting has been summoned to deliberate on issues arising from the primaries and consider the outcome of the exercise.
As part of preparations for the meeting, NEC members have been directed to arrive in Abuja on Tuesday, June 2, for a pre-NEC session, while the main NEC meeting is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
The party assured members, aspirants and stakeholders that the official results of the primaries would be announced after the completion of its internal processes and the submission of its candidates’ list to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“The general public and stakeholders will be availed of the results of our primaries when we send the list of candidates to fly our party’s flag to INEC,” the statement stated.
The clarification comes amid growing speculation and the circulation of purported results from different states following the party’s nationwide primaries, with the NDC insisting that only announcements made through its official channels should be regarded as valid.
