Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Alhaji Muhammad Aminu Adamu Jumba, popularly known as Bunun Bauchi, describing the late elder statesman as a symbol of discipline, courage and service to society.
Adamu Jumba died on Friday at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, after a prolonged illness.
In a condolence message issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, the Governor sympathized with the Emir of Bauchi, Dr Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, the Bauchi Emirate Council, the immediate family of the deceased and the people of the state.
Governor Mohammed noted that the deceased was a respected prince of the Bauchi Emirate and one of the surviving sons of the late Emir of Bauchi, Malam Adamu Jumba. He was also an uncle to the current Emir of Bauchi.
The Governor described the late Bunun Bauchi as a man whose life was marked by dedication to the service of his family, community and the state, adding that his contributions earned him widespread respect within and outside the emirate.
According to him, the deceased remained steadfast in promoting values of honesty, responsibility and respect for traditional institutions throughout his lifetime.
Mohammed said the death of the elder statesman represented a huge loss to the Bauchi Emirate and the state at large, noting that his wisdom and counsel positively influenced many people.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, while urging members of the bereaved family to take solace in the enduring legacy he left behind.
The governor also prayed for the family and associates of the late prince to be granted the strength to bear the loss.
