The Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto State, Manir Muhammad Dan’Iya (Walin Sokoto), has extended warm felicitations to children across Sokoto State and Nigeria on the occasion of the 2026 Children’s Day celebration.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Press Secretary and Media Aide, Aminu Abdullahi, Dan’Iya described children as the foundation of the nation’s future and the greatest asset for sustainable development.
He stressed that every responsible society must prioritize the protection, education, health, and moral upbringing of its younger generation.
The ADC gubernatorial candidate urged children to remain focused on their education, respect their parents and teachers, and embrace discipline, honesty, and hard work as guiding principles for a successful future.
“Children are not only the leaders of tomorrow; they are the hope of today. The investment we make in their education, health, and welfare will determine the future strength, stability, and prosperity of our society,” he said.
Dan’Iya assured the people of Sokoto State that, if elected governor in 2027, his administration would place the welfare of children and the development of the education sector at the center of government policy.
He stated that his administration would work towards providing free and accessible education from primary school to university level, while upgrading learning environments across the state to meet global standards.
“We are committed to building a modern educational system that can compete globally. Our schools will be equipped with improved infrastructure, qualified teachers, modern learning facilities, and a conducive environment that supports academic excellence,” he said.
The ADC candidate also pledged to introduce E-Smart Education initiatives to integrate digital technology into learning processes across schools in Sokoto State, preparing children for the demands of the modern world.
He emphasized the need to tackle the growing challenge of out-of-school children, promising deliberate programmes and policies to return thousands of children to classrooms across the state’s 23 Local Government Areas.
Dan’Iya added that his administration would pursue strategic collaborations with international development partners and foreign educational institutions to strengthen education and child development in Sokoto State.
On healthcare, he promised to expand and improve child healthcare services across all 23 Local Government Areas to ensure children have access to quality medical care and proper welfare support.
Addressing insecurity, Dan’Iya expressed concern over its impact on school attendance and children’s safety.
He assured residents that safeguarding lives and securing learning environments would remain a top priority under his leadership.
“No meaningful development can take place where children live in fear or are denied access to education because of insecurity.
“Protecting our children and ensuring safe schools will receive utmost attention under our administration,” he added.
He also called on parents and guardians to continue guiding, monitoring, and nurturing their children to become responsible citizens capable of contributing positively to society.
Dan’Iya wished all children in Sokoto State and across Nigeria a peaceful, joyful, and memorable Children’s Day celebration, and prayed for a brighte future for every Nigerian child.
