Pan-Atlantic University, NNPC Partner on Environmental Commu

The Centre for Media and Communication Research, Pan-Atlantic University, in partnership with the NNPC Foundation, will host the 2nd NNPC Foundation Symposium on Energy and Environmental Communication.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Director of CMCR, Prof Nelson Okorie, on Tuesday. The symposium, scheduled to be held from June 10 to 11, is designed to promote sustainable environmental communication among stakeholders across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

As part of a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of the NNPC Foundation, the symposium will provide a platform for discussions on the role of energy and environmental communication in national development.

“In the realm of media studies, environmental communication is essential for mitigating issues affecting climate change and environmental health across the globe. Scholars agree that environmental communication is a catalyst for promoting environmental adaptation, conservation, and biodiversity in most modern societies,” Okorie said.

He added that the event would also foster a network of development experts committed to advancing government environmental sustainability goals in Nigeria and contributing to broader global sustainable development efforts.

The NNPC Foundation is the CSR arm of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, focused on sustainable development and community engagement.
